Sunday July 12th will be our mixed-terrain ride. As Tim posted before, this is planned as a 55-miler.
Come prepared, as there will be few (if any) places to refuel. This ride will include gravel roads and possibly worse. There are a couple of us with trucks, so we may be able to provide rides to/from the ride.
Much more information will be coming soon, including the time.

Sorry for the late notice, but tomorrow, Sunday, June 28th, we’re having a 60-mile ride starting at Arby’s in Sellersburg. The ride starts at 7:00 a.m. We’ll meet up near the rear of the parking lot.
This ride has many rolling hills, and a few challenging (but not brutal) climbs. The goal of this ride is to stay together as a group. There will be cue sheets available at the ride, but in theory, you won’t need them.
Please come prepared. It could be quite warm and steamy. It might rain. Bring at least two water bottles. There should be at least two store stops along the way.
If you insist on seeing the route ahead of time, it’s here.

I know, we have the Tour de Cure (which I will be riding in) in a week, but I’d like a ride tomorrow. I’m willing to plan one, if anyone is interested and able to make it.
Sorry for the short notice…

First, I want to apologize for some of the mix-ups at the ride. I wasn’t familiar with the entire course, and had never been to Clark Forest before. If it had just been the gravel and steep inclines, that would have been one thing. However, I was a bad navigator, and caused a few of us to add more miles (and time) than planned.
Tim did a great job talking about went well with the ride. I had a lot of fun, some of the time. I also felt I had let the group down.
I like Tim’s suggestion to plan another ride out here, and I hope yesterday’s ride doesn’t scare anyone off from another ride. I will learn routes better before announcing them, and will warn of gravel, steep grades, or anything else appropriate.

It’s official. Sunday, March 15th at Noon. Ride starts and ends at my house:
1467 Villa Ct.
Charlestown, IN 47111
The route begins in Charlestown, winds northwest through Clark county. We’ll bump into Scott county in the north, and turn due west for a while. We’ll have a store stop in Underwood, then continue into Clark State Forest.
After a hilly south-easterly ride, we’ll have another chance for a store stop in Memphis. Then we’ll return to Charlestown and have great pizza and good beer and the Charlestown Pizza Company. Then it’s just a quick trip to the start location.
The route is here.
Download the cue sheet.
This ride is about 43 miles. There may be two recumbents on the ride, for you upright guys to laugh at while we struggle going uphill.

Thank you to Dale for planning the February ride. The March ride is mine to plan, but I want some feedback first. Which of these two rides would appeal to you more?
- 30-ish miles starting from Charlestown, with a Pizza Dinner at the end of the ride. This ride would be mostly rural, and have lots of rolling hills.
- 60-ish miles starting from Downtown Louisville running through Jeffersonville, Clarksville, Charlestown, Sellersburg, New Albany, with a good restaurant stop along the way. This ride would be a mix of rural and urban, and include some hilly areas.
Either put your thoughts in a comment, or email me directly.

After hearing that Dale couldn’t make it today, I figured it would be Tim and I. I was wrong. There were a total of eight of us. I would name them all, but I’d forget a name and upset somebody.
We had a great, if cold, ride. The pace was not too fast, we stayed together as a group, and chatted about various topics.
At the twenty mile point most had to split off. Some were too cold, some had other things to do. We continued on, and had a stop at a nice little coffee shop/deli. The worst part of the ride was getting back out after the stop, it took a while to generate body heat again.
Tim led us on a little off-roading, which was neat, but it did lead to a seatpost malfunction on my bike.
Anyway, I had a great time, and I hope that we’ll have more people once the weather warms.
